Headlining Taranta Festival Gala night is Ali Shkaki, a powerful voice in contemporary Australian world music, blending his Kurdish roots with themes of migration, resilience, and belonging. His performance will be supported by his band, featuring Greg Sheehan on percussion, Laura Targett on fiddle, and Emiliano Beltzer on double bass.

This performance will be enhanced by three incredible guest artists: Nawres Al-Freh, an Iraqi violinist bridging Middle Eastern and Western styles; Bobby Singh, Australia’s premier tabla player; and Metin Yilmaz, a master of the haunting kaval flute.

Opening the night will be the Trio Petra featuring Byron Triandafyllidis, Paddy Montgomery and Paul Dounias who will transport the audience with their mastery of Greek traditional music, blending ancient sounds with a modern touch.
